FagronLab™ EMP PRO

High-volume planetary mixer with melting and deaeration

The FagronLab™ PM300 PRO is an all-in-one planetary device that integrates mixing, melting and deaeration for pharmacies preparing formulations above 100 mL. With a production capability of 215 mL inside a 310 mL nominal volume, and user-defined time (up to 30 minutes) and speed (up to 2200 rpm), it standardizes high-volume compounding preparation while safeguarding formulation safety, quality and effectiveness.

FagronLab™ EMP PRO

How it is used

  • Creams, gels and ointments with soluble, liquid or insoluble APIs.
  • Gelatin bases, gums, mucosal and oral films.
  • Suppositories and vaginal inserts, including the melting step.
  • Deaeration of preparations above 125 mL prepared in other devices.
  • Hazardous drug compounding in a fully closed jar.

Advantages

  • Single-step process
  • Dosage accuracy
  • Compounding substances of varying densities
  • Thermal regulation
  • Convenient elevation in production volume
  • Standardization through parameter storage
  • Timesaving
  • Compounding hazardous drugs
  • Conservation of resources
  • Material-loss prevention

Operating parameters

Operating modes

Revolution speed is selected by the pharmacist; rotation quantity changes with the selected mode and revolution speed, standardizing the process across batches.

ModeFunction
MixingHomogenization of substances with similar and varying densities.
MediumSustains temperature and prevents air entrapment during mixing.
Deaeration (degas)Compounding deaeration and maintenance of a consistent temperature.
WavingHomogeneous mixing at controlled temperature regardless of viscosity differences. Not suggested for deaeration.

Accessories

The accessory range keeps growing — grinding spheres, metal jar compatibility and new adapters are in the pipeline.

AccessoryDescription
PM jar 215 mLReusable standard mixing jar with a fully closed structure for mixing, melting and deaeration of low- and high-viscosity semisolid preparations.
PM-Jar 100 mL HVSterile, disposable jar for deaeration and mixing of gels, creams and ointments. The bottom pushes upward to dispense the remaining volume and reduce air contact. Also compatible with FagronLab™ EMP devices.
PM-Jar 125 mL HV+LVSterile, disposable fixed-bottom jar for more fluid formulas, also suitable for creams, ointments, gels and mucosal films. Heat resistant to 80 °C and reaches 40 °C; apply external heating (e.g. hot water bath) above 40 °C.
PM jar holderSecurely holds the 100 mL HV and 125 mL HV+LV jars during high-speed operation.
PM300 PRO spacerBridges the capacity difference between devices so every PM jar designed for the PM140 can be used in the PM300 PRO.

What it delivers

01

Air entrapment eliminated

Dedicated deaeration removes the unknown, uneven air that compromises homogeneity, dosage accuracy and stability.

02

Uniform mixing

Standardized speed and applied force make the quality of each compounded preparation reproducible.

03

Controlled melting

In-device thermal regulation avoids the temperature fluctuation and water-vapor contamination risk of a water bath.

04

Higher volumes without extra steps

215 mL per batch in a single mixing, melting and deaeration cycle for preparations above 100 mL.

Mechanism of action

The PM300 PRO works through planetary motion — the simultaneous revolution and rotation of the PM jar in opposite directions. The pharmacist selects the revolution speed according to the compounding requirement, while the quantity of rotation changes with the selected mode and revolution speed.

Four distinct modes standardize those changes so preparation stays reproducible: Mixing, Medium, Deaeration (degas) and Wave.

The compounding challenges it solves

Air entrapment: entrapped air is difficult to eliminate and causes dosage inaccuracy, instability from contact between emulsion droplets and air, and microbial proliferation.

Uniformity in mixing: speed and applied force must be standardized to reproduce the quality of compounded preparations batch after batch.

Uniformity in melting bases: conventional methods fluctuate in average temperature and carry a high contamination risk, such as water vapor from a water bath.

Why parameters matter

Mixing speed, time and applied heating must be tailored to each formulation to achieve effective and consistent results.

Interaction between oxidative molecules in the air and formulation components can trigger chemical instabilities, including alterations in texture and pH — so a mixer with deaeration capability is significant for advanced compounding quality.
